About the scholarship.
The Taylor Force "Force for Good" Scholarship is a $5,000 scholarship awarded to an active duty service member transitioning out of the military who's looking to further their career through attending an institution of higher education, trade school or obtaining a professional certification.
The scholarship will be awarded in memory of Taylor Force, an Army Veteran who was tragically killed in 2016 during a school-sponsored trip for Vanderbilt University graduate students to learn about startup companies overseas.
Taylor's Legacy
Taylor Force was denied GI Bill funding for business school in 2015.
He attended New Mexico Military Institute for high school, graduated from West Point in 2009 and served in the US Army for over 5 years with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. After a lifetime of service, he saw school as a way to ease into civilian life and find community among his classmates.
Taylor ultimately did receive funding after lots of red tape and headaches, but it was not a foregone conclusion. He attended Vanderbilt University to earn an MBA.
Taylor was tragically killed in 2016 during a school-sponsored trip, where graduate students were sent to learn about startup companies overseas.
Taylor was such a positive, friendly, uplifting force in the world. He never met a stranger and loved helping people.
The Force family wants to continue sharing Taylor's goodwill and warmth with the world.
Taylor didn’t get the chance to finish his graduate degree. This scholarship is a way to help people achieve their goals while honoring him.
